As most of you probably know, our classmate Larry Pinson recently passed away. You may not know that this wife Lori has been struggling the last several years with multiple sclerosis and is now confined to a wheel chair. Obviously, this has made for a difficult financial circumstance.
The Pinson's have two children, Dustin (age 13) and Cassie (age 9), who have now realized a tragic loss. Though they will enjoy the support of their loving grandparents, Dustin and Cassie still face great adversity in their future. As we must all attend to our own lives and loved ones, we cannot be there to support them in many of the challenges they will face but we can help them realize their dreams.
To that end, educational trusts have been established to assist Dustin and Cassie in attending college. We are asking each of you to contribute what you can to their education fund. All of your contributions will be matched dollar for dollar up to a maximum of $18,000.
The money contributed will be held in a "529 College Savings Plan", which allows the original contributions and all related interest earnings to be spent on a variety of higher education expenses, tax-free. At the discretion of the Plan Trustee, the money may be used for other needs, based upon consultation with the children's grandparents.
